Depending on the size and depth of your laceration, your surgery could be minor or major. After anesthesia is administered, the laceration will be cleaned and the ends of the severed tissues will be repaired and closed with sutures. Deep wounds may require a temporary drain to prevent fluid buildup as the laceration heals.
Patients may experience swelling or discomfort at the laceration site. Dr. Rosenblatt will prescribe an oral pain medication to help Manhattan patients with this. It is important to keep the laceration site cleaned.
